Two broad barriers to effective communication exist:
1.The way we think and feel
We decode the information we receive using our senses – sight, hearing, touch
Each persons’ senses operate a little differently
2.Our assumption that other people think and feel the same way we do
Everyone interprets messages, events and experiences differently
Generally there are two broad barriers to effective communications.
1.The way we think and feel
1.Each person decodes information using their senses – sight, hearing, even touch
2.As we mentioned before, each person experiences make them unique, and will make how they interpret things unique
3.And lastly, as we decode, we may not have enough information to fully decode the message
2.The assumption that other people think and feel the same way we do
1.Again, a key thing to remember is everyone interprets things slightly differently
We’ll do a quick activity to show this.
