Carefully explain what the issue is

Can be awkward or embarrassing, but need to make sure the point gets across

Both people should walk away with the right understanding

When trying to be gentle or subtle, the point may be lost

Create action items and follow through

As with any communication, create next steps to improve the situation


1 – Need to be careful to ensure you explain what the issue is – even if it is embarrassing or awkward

2 – Need to make sure both people walk away with the right understanding

-Often can walk away with people thinking there is no issue when you are trying to be gentle or subtle

3 – Similar to all other communications, know what your objective is and create action items to achieve the objective
