Organized
–Same concepts as for verbal communication
Simple & clear
–Help the reader focus on the idea you are communicating, not the words you use to describe it
Concise
–Avoid unnecessary words, sentences or details
Always re-read and edit
Correct any mistakes, simplify and clarify where possible, remove unnecessary words or details
Good writing is not easy and takes years of practice
It does have some key characteristics

-Set out the purpose up front so the reader understands why they are reading and will be focused on the right things
-Summarize with a recommendation or ask at the end to reinforce the purpose – to avoid confusion
